    Columbus Library Closed

The Columbus Library is permanently closed
    more ▼ less ▲

The County Library has decided to decommission the Columbus Library Branch, effective immediately.

This decision was reached by the Library Board for several reasons:

    • All South Salt Lake buildings remain closed to the public as city staff continue to build a cache of supplies to protect employees and the public.
    • Low utilization of curbside services at the Columbus Branch.
    • The square footage doesn't allow for more than 2 patrons in the facility at a time with social distancing (w/ 2 employees present).
    • The uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and the anticipated closure of the Columbus Library planned for late spring/early summer to move services to the Granite Library.

We have been advised that library staff will be utilized at other locations. The new Granite Branch is under construction and anticipated to open in summer 2021.
